First stop: The Connecticut Flower Collective
The Connecticut Flower Collective is a flower-focused marketplace that allows plant lovers to shop weekly from over 25 local farms. Like a farmers market but exclusively for flowers and plants, the collective offers a rotating selection based on what’s in bloom, thanks to Connecticut’s varied microclimates. Jill Shea, the manager, highlights the seasonal diversity, while local florist Nancy Gorkin emphasizes the benefits of buying local—supporting farmers and reducing carbon footprints. Both wholesale buyers and the general public are welcome. Visiting hours are available on the collective’s website.

The museum is family-friendly and welcomes visitors of all ages, including new members to the Boothe Railway Society.
Take a Hike: CT Forest & Park Association
Established in 1929 by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), the Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail System spans approximately 825 miles across Connecticut. These public hiking trails are maintained by volunteers and offer peaceful outdoor experiences while minimizing environmental impact. Officially recognized as state hiking trails by Connecticut law and designated as a state “greenway” in 2001, the trail system is part of the State Plan of Conservation and Development.
